LOS ANGELES -- ESPN Stats & Information's Mark Simon offered this graphic analysis of the controversial called third strike against Juan Lagares with the bases loaded in the seventh inning Monday, in what became a 4-2 loss to the Dodgers:

Simon added that the pitch location might be in the two-inch buffer zone umpires are given on the corners of the plate for an acceptable strike call. The data came from Pitch F/X, and determines where the baseball crossed the plate.
Simon also noted that pitches in that location are called strikes by umpires only 30 percent of the time, and 20 percent when it would be a called third strike.
Plate ump Chad Fairchild made Monday's disputed strike call.
