Mets sign pitchers Talbot, Thompson

NEW YORK -- The Mets signed right-handed pitchers Mitch Talbot and Daryl Thompson and assigned them to Triple-A Las Vegas, the team announced before Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

Talbot, 29, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011. He's 12-19 with a 5.30 ERA in his career, and has pitched for Cleveland and Tampa Bay. Talbot has pitched this season in Miami's minor league system.

Thompson, 28, also hasn't pitched in the majors since 2011. He's 0-3 with an 8.31 in four career games with the Reds. Thompson had been pitching with the Southern Maryland Blue Claws of the Atlantic League.
