NEW YORK -- Terry Collins suggested Lucas Duda primarily will serve as a backup first baseman at this point, as well as serve as designated hitter when the Mets play at Cleveland at the end of their next road trip.

Collins has not ruled out outfield activity for Duda, but is not eager to use him there given the contribution of Eric Young Jr.

"I'm not probably going to disrupt what's going on in the outfield right now," Collins said. "So he's probably going to take more ground balls at first than he is [work] in the outfield."
