The Mets answered the Phillies' trade for Roy Oswalt on Friday, shipping Triple-A first baseman Mike Jacobs to the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named -- presumably not reliever Scott Downs (right). The reverberations were felt throughout the organization, with Nick Evans promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Buffalo to fill the first-base void.

Jacobs began the season platooning at first base for the Mets with Fernando Tatis. He hit .208 with a homer and two RBIs in 24 at-bats, prompting the Mets to send him to Buffalo in mid-April and launching the Ike Davis era.

Jacobs hit .260 with 15 homers and 57 RBIs with the Bisons. Evans, who was promoted to Triple-A, hit .294 with 17 homers and 55 RBIs in 88 games with the B-Mets.
