NEW YORK -- Right-hander Vic Black, the Triple-A closer obtained in the trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, is expected to join the Mets on Sunday in Washington, as rosters expand.

The Mets announced his inclusion in the deal after Black completed the waiver process Thursday.
Because there is a 72-hour window to report, the Mets can stall adding the 25-year-old Black to the major league roster until Sunday. That avoids having to temporarily send him to Triple-A Las Vegas or demote another player to clear room.
Black, who has an upper-90s fastball as well as a slider, was 5-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 30 relief appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. In 46 2/3 innings, he allowed 28 hits and 21 walks (three intentional) while striking out 63. He had 17 saves in 22 chances. Opponents had a .169 batting average against him. Black also made three appearances with the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks in four innings.
