WASHINGTON -- Wilmer Flores was held out of the starting lineup for a second straight game Sunday night because of cranky ankles that are “taped up to the max,” Terry Collins said.
Flores sprained his right ankle at Dodger Stadium on Aug. 12. The other ankle had been troublesome back to his time with Triple-A Las Vegas.
“I watched him the other day and it looked like his feet are bothering him,” Collins said. “I watched him go after some balls and run. He just looks like he’s aggravated by it. His swing has changed a little bit. So he might be getting tired also. I just thought I’m going to give him a couple of days off. He’s going to play tomorrow.”
