NEW YORK -- Before the Mets departed for Philadelphia late Thursday afternoon, David Wright told ESPNNewYork.com he will wait until Friday to confer with Terry Collins and team trainers and get the go-ahead to play in the series opener at Citizens Bank Park.

Collins said before Thursday's 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants that it was likely Wright will be in the lineup in Philadelphia for the series opener.

Wright has not appeared in a major league game since suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain on Aug. 2.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
