The Mets have signed right-hander Miguel Socolovich to a minor league contract with a spring-training invite.
Socolovich, a 27-year-old Venezuelan, appeared in 11 games in relief for Hiroshima in Japan this past season, posting a 0.79 ERA in 11 1/3 innings.
He began 2013 with Hiroshima's Western League affiliate in Japan, ultimately making 12 appearances and producing a 1.29 ERA with three saves at that level. He had calf issues there as well as right shoulder issues at the higher level.
Socolovich currently is pitching for Leones del Caracas in Venezuela, which is managed by Mets hitting coach Dave Hudgens.
