Zack Wheeler, appearing midday on ESPN New York 98.7, said he intends to arrive in Port St. Lucie, Fla., about 10 days before the official Feb. 15 report date for pitchers and catchers.

"I'll be down there early February," Wheeler said.

As for the additions of Bartolo Colon, Curtis Granderson and Chris Young, Wheeler said: "Our chances of winning a little bit more definitely went up since we got those guys. It definitely didn't hurt us. It's a good step in the right direction for us. Our team is definitely going to play our hearts out and try to win as many games as we can. I think it's going to be a good season for us."
