David Wright arrived on Thursday in Port St. Lucie, well ahead of the Mets' official report date -- Feb. 15 for pitchers and Feb. 20 for position players.

Wright typically arrives early anyway, but this year he is reporting even earlier. He is spearheading a sold-out charity event Super Bowl Sunday to help a St. Lucie Mets employee affected by cancer.

Also already at the team's Florida complex: Bobby Parnell, Anthony Recker, Jenrry Mejia and Andrew Brown.

Wright joined Adam Schein on “SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio” channel Wednesday. You can listen to the interview here.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
