The Mets have signed lefty-hitting first baseman/outfielder Matt Clark to a minor-league deal with spring-training invite.

Clark, 27, hit .238 with 25 homers for Chunichi in Japan last season. Originally drafted by the Padres, he played five minor-league seasons with that organization, including two at Triple-A Tucson, before heading to Asia.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
