PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Owner Fred Wilpon, who traditionally gives a state-of-the-team press conference early in spring training, may opt not to this year.

Wilpon, 77, declined an interview with New York media while at the complex Wednesday.

Wilpon's spring-training addresses have led to such memorable phrases as "meaningful games in September." Last year, he used the word "zimmo" to describe his family's finances.

Said Wilpon on Wednesday: "I'm on vacation."
