PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Two days after the Mets originally intended to have Bobby Parnell throw off a mound, the closer expects to throw a bullpen session Saturday.

"That's upon doctor's approval," Parnell told ESPNNewYork.com on Saturday morning, "but it shouldn't be hard to get."

Parnell was held out of activity Friday with a left quadriceps injury, which Terry Collins labeled tightness.

On Thursday, Parnell had been listed as due to throw a bullpen. But he asked for an extra day out of caution as he returns from surgery to repair a herniated disk.

UPDATE: Parnell threw off a mound Saturday morning.
