PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A day after Terry Collins indicated Ike Davis could be serving as a designated hitter on the minor-league side as soon as Thursday, Davis indicated he has a major hurdle to clear first.
Davis, who has been sidelined for more than a week with a right-calf strain, and who recently has been wearing a boot, first needs to test the injury Wednesday.
"I haven't tried running on it, so I don't know," Davis told ESPNNewYork.com about DHing. "We'll see."
