PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Sandy Alderson acknowledged relief is off the table as a consideration for Jenrry Mejia, so it's essentially Daisuke Matsuzaka or Mejia making the Opening Day roster in the rotation.

Alderson said the Mets would wait until later in the day to announce the decision, although it's widely presumed Matsuzaka will be named to the rotation.

The Mets have to tell Matsuzaka by noon Tuesday whether he has made the Opening Day roster. Otherwise, they must pay him $100,000 for the right to send him to the minors, or cut him loose.
