PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The Mets closed spring training with a 4-0 loss to the Washington Nationals at Tradition Field on Thursday.
Prospect Cory Mazzoni departed after recording only five outs because of a triceps injury. Jeurys Familia and Kyle Farnsworth combined to allow three runs over the final two innings. Farnsworth, ticketed for Triple-A Las Vegas, was making his first appearance since being released Sunday and re-signing.
The Mets finished Grapefruit League play at 14-14-2.
Eric Young Jr. had three of the Mets’ eight hits and finished the game at shortstop.
