NEW YORK -- Your Opening Day starter at first base for the Mets? It's Ike Davis.

Terry Collins said he selected Davis because of his favorable career numbers against Stephen Strasburg (.364, two homers in 11 at-bats).

Still, Collins said all three first basemen will play.

Josh Satin will start Game 2 against left-hander Gio Gonzalez. And Collins sounded like Duda would start Game 3.

Sandy Alderson said he does not expect the first-base situation to be fluid all year. He even noted a position player needs to be demoted this weekend when Jonathon Niese is activated from the disabled list, although he was not specifically saying the team would demote a first baseman then.

"I'm not suggesting it happens at first base, but we're going to have to address our position players at that time," Alderson said. "I don't expect this to be fluid situation that goes on indefinitely."
