Murph on leave; Wilmer promoted

NEW YORK -- Daniel Murphy, whose wife gave birth to the couple's first child Monday in Florida, will be placed on paternity leave Wednesday.

The Mets plan to promote infielder Wilmer Flores, who had been assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Murphy is entitled to miss one to three days while on leave.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
