NEW YORK -- Chris Young, who had started eight straight games since returning from the disabled list, is out of Saturday's starting lineup because of illness, Terry Collins said. Young is uninjured, the manager added.

Instead, Curtis Granderson makes his first Mets start in center field.

That should be like riding a bicycle. It will be Granderson's 1,063rd career major-league start in center.

"I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since I've been back out there," said Granderson, who made 22 starts in center last season with the Yankees. "Obviously we've got a lot of great outfielders over here that can play multiple positions."
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
