PHILADELPHIA -- Mets players froze out Post beat writer Mike Puma the day after Bartolo Colon's last start, after getting upset with mocking of the pitcher's weight by the newspaper.
Despite Colon limiting the St. Louis Cardinals to one run in seven innings in his last outing, the newspaper had a headline the following day that read "Lardball." The first paragraph of the story joked that the only thing Colon might have been caught with on his neck was "peanut butter."
It may not be a love affair, but a truce apparently has been brokered. And as Colon heads into a start Wednesday night in Philadelphia (weather permitting), the himself portly Puma used some self-deprecating humor in a tweet ...
No intent to offend with Colon comment last week, was meant to be a joke. For the record, I keep hot fudge on my neck for long games.
