Is that something that will stick?

“I’m hoping,” Terry Collins replied before the series opener against the Colorado Rockies. “I’m hoping it sticks for quite a while. What I tried to do is bunch up guys who are getting on base and see if we can produce some runs in this place, because [the Rockies] are scoring enough runs, it’s going to be tough to keep them down.”

Collins in April had resisted putting Duda in the cleanup spot, even after the Ike Davis trade, because the manager did not want to put too much responsibility on Duda.

“I think he’s pretty comfortable. He knows he’s the guy,” Collins said about the motivation for now placing Duda in cleanup slot.

That said, the Mets face left-handers Friday and Saturday (Jorge De La Rosa and Franklin Morales), so Josh Satin will be starting at first base at least once if not both games.
