MIAMI -- Scott Rice minimized a back issue that prompted Terry Collins to refrain from using his lone lefty reliever the final two games of the series at Marlins Park.

“If they needed me to throw today, I could have thrown,” Rice insisted after Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to the Miami Marlins.

Said Rice: “It’s fine. It’s something I dealt with in spring training. I had the same issue. It’s nothing that I’m worried about. It was gone in two days then. It’s already better now.

"It was like a rib-that-kind-of-slipped-out type of thing. The chiropractor came in and adjusted me yesterday and today and we should be good. We’re just waiting for the muscle to calm down.”

Rice is expected to be available Friday, after the Mets have a day off.
