MIAMI -- A scout who has watched Wilmer Flores man shortstop at Triple-A Las Vegas this season did not crush him defensively, even though Flores will arrive in New York on Friday having committed seven errors in 25 games at the position this season.

"I saw him at shortstop and he was serviceable," the scout said. "He's solid on routine plays with limited range to his left and right."

Still, other observers were highly critical during spring training of Flores' ability to quickly get rid of the baseball after fielding it.

As for an infield that might include Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda and Flores -- all with limited range -- the scout was not as complimentary.

"Oh boy!" the scout said. "Good luck with that."
