NEW YORK -- One week after getting conked on the top of the head by a backswing from Alfonso Soriano in the Bronx, Travis d'Arnaud continues to experience concussion-related symptoms when he exercises.

As a result, d'Arnaud will not be activated from the seven-day concussion disabled list on Wednesday when he is eligible, Sandy Alderson said.

"He's still feeling the effects of the initial impact," Alderson said, "so at this point I don't have a real good prognosis on when he will be back. But at this point, as he exercises, he still experiences some symptoms. As a result, we're still in the recovery period.

"In order to come back, he has to pass a post-concussion test. We don't feel he's in a situation today where he should take that test. Until he's feeling better, we won't run him through that testing. And that would be required before any reactivation. And, unlike the regular disabled list, this isn't our own individual choice. His return has to be approved by Major League Baseball and, I believe, the Players' Association as well based on the test results and other clinical evidence."

Anthony Recker and Juan Centeno will continue to share the catching duties minus d'Arnaud. Centeno is due to make his third start on Tuesday night since d'Arnaud landed on the DL. Recker also has made three starts during that span.
