SAN FRANCISCO -- Brandon Nimmo, who was forced to leave Friday's Class A St. Lucie game an inning after getting struck in the right wrist with a pitch, has avoided a fracture.
Nimmo X-rays taken on the 2011 first-round pick came back negative, Paul DePodesta said.
Nimmo nonetheless is out of the lineup for Saturday's Florida State League game.
Nimmo, 21, is hitting .327 with four homers, 24 RBIs and nine steals in 214 at-bats. He has a league-best .448 on-base percentage.
Top prospect Noah Syndergaard similarly avoided a fracture diagnosis on his left shoulder this week after being involved in a home-plate collision at Las Vegas.
