ST. LOUIS -- After Daisuke Matsuzaka lasted only one inning Sunday and then departed with extreme stomach discomfort, Terry Collins hoped the right-hander would be available Monday for a couple of innings of relief. That will not be the case.
"He's still pretty weak from yesterday," Collins said before Monday's series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
Collins also will not have Carlos Torres or Vic Black available for bullpen work at Busch Stadium on Monday. Torres logged four innings and Black logged two innings in Sunday's rubber-game win against the San Diego Padres.
The manager did believe Jenrry Mejia would be available to pitch against the Cards. Mejia tossed two innings Sunday, but he required only 18 pitches.
