ST. LOUIS -- Eric Young Jr. got through Monday's return from the disabled list with no issue with the strained right hamstring that had sent him to the disabled list.

"I was able to sprint out a couple of things today and everything felt good on the leg," said Young, who had played in four rehab games before being activated.

Young, batting ninth with the pitcher ahead of him, said that was of no importance to him. He was credited with an infield single in the second inning, struck out to strand the bases loaded in the fourth and also threw out baserunner Allen Craig attempting to score from second base on a single while manning left field.

"I was just happy to be in the lineup," Young said. "Obviously being out for about three weeks there, I was just glad to see my name in there. It didn't matter what spot."
