SAN DIEGO -- Ex-Met Jordany Valdespin has been promoted by the Miami Marlins and is starting for the ballclub at second base on Saturday.

Valdespin, 26, was hitting .270 with eight homers and 29 RBIs in 222 at-bats with Triple-A New Orleans.

His last major league game came on July 13, 2013 with the Mets at Pittsburgh. It was during that series that Valdespin cursed out Terry Collins after learning he had been demoted.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
