PHILADELPHIA -- Jenrry Mejia tossed on flat ground on Friday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, and Terry Collins said the closer is available for the series opener against the Phillies.

Mejia even was shagging fly balls during batting practice pregame.

He had complained of calf tightness in D.C. on Thursday, when he allowed two baserunners while handling the 12th inning.

"He's learned that he has to speak up," Collins said. "And so he did. Yesterday he told us, 'I'm fine to pitch.' And then it just kind of tightened up on him on the mound. And then he came in and basically said, 'Listen, I'll be OK to go back out [for the 13th inning].' And I said no."
