PHILADELPHIA -- Rafael Montero, who is expected to join the Mets for Tuesday's start at Citi Field, has been named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week.

In a pair of starts with Triple-A Las Vegas, Montero tossed 14 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and four walks while striking out 17.

"He's been sharp, locating his pitches, getting ahead of guys," recent call-up Matt den Dekker said. "He's making a pitch when he has to, to put the guy away. He keeps the ball down. He's got sink to his ball."
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
