Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said Johan Santana felt "fine" during a bullpen session before Sunday's game at Wrigley Field. But, Horwitz added, no announcement would be made about whether Santana will proceed with Tuesday's start against the Washington Nationals in D.C. until trainer Ray Ramirez consults with the team's doctors.

Santana was pulled from his last start after five innings because of what the team has labeled a strained left pectoral muscle.

Analysis: Given where the Mets are in the season, is it worth Santana taking the mound if the trainer has to check with doctors to make sure it's OK? Of course, proceeding with the start sets up a potential John Maine-pulled-after-five-pitches scenario in D.C. again.
