Wright dons Knicks apparel, applauds deal
By Adam Rubin
David Wright entered the Mets clubhouse in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday morning wearing a Knicks T-shirt. However, the third baseman said he was not suddenly jumping on the bandwagon with Carmelo Anthony headed to the Garden.
Nor did Wright run out and purchase the Knicks apparel.
"No, no, no, no, no," Wright said. "I make it to a Knick game here and a Knick game there. Especially when D. Lee was there, I made it out a little more often. That's been in storage for a little while."
Did the Knicks give up a lot in the deal, considering Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton and Timofey Mozgov all headed out?
"You're getting one of the best players in the game," Wright said. "I mean, I'm no basketball expert, but it just seems like there's a good buzz. The exciting thing, especially about New York, is that you get players who truly want to come play there. And those are the types of guys that the fans want."
