Adams retires with Buffalo

By Adam Rubin

Former major league infielder Russ Adams, who played in 286 games with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2004 through 2009, has retired. Adams, 30, was hitting .180 with one homer and five RBIs in 61 at-bats for Triple-A Buffalo.

He was the 14th overall pick in the 2002 draft by Toronto out of the University of North Carolina, one slot ahead of the Mets picking Scott Kazmir.
