Reyes says hamstring is 'shaky'

By Ian Begley

Jose Reyes continues to be hamstrung by his injured hamstring.

A day after admitting his hamstring still bothers him, Reyes on Wednesday described the hammy as "shaky."

"I feel like i can still play everyday, it's not that," Reyes said. "[But] my hamstring's not there quite yet."

Reyes has been on the disabled list twice this season due to a hamstring ailment, which may affect his value heading into offseason free-agency.

On Wednesday, the shortstop reiterated that the condition of his hamstring has worsened since his Aug. 29 return from the disabled list.

"It was good [the first day back]," Reyes said. "Now, it's shaky."

Terry Collins admitted that expectations for Reyes should be tempered due to the injury.

"He can play, it's just at times it may not be the same guy that we know," Collins said. "We've got to be careful not to have the expectations that we've had with him as he continues to mend."

Reyes has only one stolen base attempt in 15 starts since returning.
