Beltran still not cleared for full activities
By Kieran Darcy
Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran, who has missed the entire season after having surgery on his right knee in January, has still not been cleared for full baseball activities.
This news comes from general manager Omar Minaya, who spoke with a group of reporters in the Mets' dugout prior to Thursday night's Mets-Phillies game.
Minaya said that Beltran is continuining to rehab in Florida. He is hitting and running, but he is not running at full speed yet. And there is no timetable for his return at this point.
"It's in the doctors' hands," Minaya said.
Minaya, however, did express confidence that Beltran would return to the Mets at some point this season. He said that once the doctors clear Beltran for full baseball activities, it will take Beltran 4-6 weeks to make it back to the bigs.
"We knew it was gonna be a while," Minaya said.
