Carson sidelined with side muscle strain

By Adam Rubin

Left-handed pitching prospect Robert Carson has been pulled from the list of upcoming pitching appearances after straining the intercostal muscle on his left side throwing batting practice. Carson continued the session and did his post-workout running before the muscle knotted up once he returned to the clubhouse. He has received an injection.

Carson, 23, originally was scheduled to pitch in Saturday's intrasquad game. He went 4-5 with a 5.05 ERA in 25 appearances (24 starts) at Double-A Binghamton last season.
