Jon Rauch allowed three runs on four hits and a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning and the Mets lost a rain-shortened Grapefruit League game to the Jose Reyes-less Miami Marlins, 4-2, on Sunday at Digital Domain Park.

Rauch had blanked a Marlins “B” squad for two innings on Thursday. In his first Grapefruit League outing, the primary setup man to Frank Francisco surrendered two runs in an inning against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Chris Schwinden, who relieved Johan Santana with two out in the third inning, sent Giancarlo (nee Mike) Stanton to a hospital for X-rays after drilling him in the left wrist. That forced in an unearned run charged to Santana with the bases loaded.

ESPN's Stephania Bell later reported the X-rays were negative and Stanton is day-to-day.

The Mets scored a pair of second-inning runs against left-hander Mark Buehrle.

Jason Bay singled for his first Grapefruit League hit after an 0-for-8 start that included four strikeouts. Adam Loewen followed with a double that advanced Bay to third. Josh Satin followed with a sacrifice fly and Josh Thole had an RBI single.

Ronny Cedeno committed an error at third base. Loewen had a fielding error too, in center field.

The game was called after five innings because of rain.
