Review: Party City Deck gets 4 stars

By Mike Mazzeo

Moving the fences in won’t just help the Mets’ hitters -- it will help their fans as well.

A two-row “Party City Deck” featuring padded seats, barstools and counters to put food on was inserted behind the new left-field wall.

The new seating area, which accommodates groups of 25-102, received rave reviews from fans on Opening Day at Citi Field.

"It's awesome," said Brian Hannon of Baldwin on Long Island, who attended the game with his nephew, Chris Hannon of Rockville Center. "Look at the view, here. Everything from second base to the shortstop, you see perfectly. Things to the right or the left obviously are going to get a little skewed."

Ticket prices in the Party City Deck go from $100 to $200. According to the Mets, single-game tickets will be sold for the final four games of the opening homestand only (April 8-11). Fans seated or standing in the Party City Deck can order peanuts, popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders, house-made potato chips, soft drinks and beer beginning two hours before scheduled first-pitch.

I’d have to agree with Brian on the view -- plus the fact that you have waiter service and can stand behind the seats and watch the game -- but fans noted some negatives about the seating area included a lack of french fries and rest rooms. Also, the only way to get to the Party City Deck is by going down section 139.
