Tejada, Ramirez begin rehab assignments

Shortstop Ruben Tejada (quadriceps) and right-handed reliever Ramon Ramirez (hamstring) are due to begin rehab assignments on Monday night with Class A St. Lucie at Bradenton. Terry Collins originally thought both players would appear with Triple-A Buffalo.

"I'm sure we'll get him back to Buffalo in short order," Sandy Alderson said about Tejada.

Ronny Cedeņo (calf), meanwhile, makes a fourth straight rehab start at shortstop with Buffalo, at Norfolk. Originally, Collins believed Cedeņo might be activated from the DL midweek. Now, Collins said, the Mets will wait longer before activating him.

Jason Bay was examined Monday afternoon by doctors to determine the extent of his latest concussion. Alderson said Bay should return to the doctor on Tuesday, and also probably will stop by Citi Field.

"I don't think we know how serious it is yet -- and may not know for at least a few days," Alderson said. "Part of it depends on how quickly some of the more obvious symptoms dissipate. Right now we're still waiting for all of those to clear."

• Rather than juggle the rotation to keep R.A. Dickey and Johan Santana on normal rest for their next turn, Collins said the rotation will remain in order, even with Thursday's off-day. That means Jon Niese, Chris Young and Dickey line up to face the Yankees next weekend.

• The Mets will honor Stony Brook University's baseball team before Tuesday's game. The Seawolves reached the College World Series before being eliminated with a pair of losses.
