Dickey lined up for All-Star Game

By Adam Rubin

LOS ANGELES -- Proper rest will not be an impediment to R.A. Dickey working in, and potentially starting for the National League, in the All-Star Game.

Teams often configure their rotations to maximize the first-half starts for their top pitchers, which would mean the ace pitching the Sunday before the All-Star break.

When the Mets had off-days and an opportunity to do that, they passed and kept the rotation in order.

So Dickey is due to face the Dodgers tomorrow, then the Phillies next Thursday on an extra day of rest, Terry Collins told ESPNNewYork.com. (Monday is a team off-day.)

Jon Niese instead would get the final start of the first half instead on July 8, the way things are lined up.

Dickey therefore would be working in the All-Star Game on July 10 in Kansas City on the day he normally would be scheduled to start.
