TC had chat with Tejada about running hard
By Adam Rubin
The medical issue when Ruben Tejada required a visit from trainer Ray Ramirez after fielding a grounder on an awkward hop in the fourth inning Saturday?
Let's just say it was ill-advised for the shortstop to play the game without an athletic supporter.
In the postgame interview session with media, Terry Collins assigned that reason for Tejada not running out a ball hard to first base the following inning.
Still, it was noticeable that bench coach Bob Geren and then David Wright talked to Tejada in the dugout after he failed to run out the ball.
And Collins acknowledged after the formal interview session Saturday that he had spoken to Tejada the previous day about the importance of making sure he runs out plays to first as a batter -- especially since the Mets are a struggling New York team, and people are looking for supposed signs of the players giving up.
