Harvey shutdown before season ends
By Adam Rubin
PHILADELPHIA -- Terry Collins confirmed an innings limit will prevent Matt Harvey from pitching through the end of the season.
Collins did not articulate a precise innings number, but GM Sandy Alderson previously had predicted a shutdown in the 165- to 170-inning range. A team source indicated 175 may be the max.
Harvey is at 146 innings entering Wednesday night's start against the Philadelphia Phillies. That potentially leaves no more than 29 more innings, including tonight -- or perhaps three additional starts beyond the game at Citizens Bank Park.
