Byrdak still aiming for mound in March
By Adam Rubin
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Tim Byrdak, who had been home in Chicago throwing on flat ground four times a week, joined camp Friday morning ready to ramp up activity.
Byrdak, who underwent surgery in August to repair a torn anterior capsule in his pitching shoulder, said his goal remains to get on a mound before teammates break camp for the April 1 season opener.
"If I could get off the mound by the end of spring training, like I said before, great," Byrdak said. "... Now it's more structured where they can see me every day."
Byrdak said he was glad to be back around his teammates.
"You get in that baseball atmosphere," he said. "Being gone since -- what? -- August of last year, it was tough to get everything going. You have the wife and kids. It's going to be a lot easier to get things done around here."
