Johan doesn't participate in workout
By Adam Rubin
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Johan Santana did not join teammates for the morning workout before Saturday's game against the Houston Astros.
Sandy Alderson said Terry Collins may address the issue postgame. A team insider said there was no major setback, but thought Santana might be slowed.
Jeremy Hefner starts against the Astros, and it's not a leap to expect he likely will open the season in the rotation, with Santana on the DL.
The Mets had targeted Thursday for Santana's first Grapefruit League action.
• Frank Francisco (elbow inflammation) said he now expects to throw off a mound for the first time in spring training on Sunday.
• Travis d'Arnaud, who was struck below the right elbow with a pitch Friday, participated in the full morning workout and said he was fine.
