Baxter in NYC ... for childbirth
By Adam Rubin
NEW YORK -- Mike Baxter has left Triple-A Las Vegas to be with his wife Diana, who is due to give birth in New York City.
"Diana is doing well," Baxter texted. "Docs think the baby will come later tonight."
Baxter's absence, coupled with Ike Davis' ejection, forced 51s manager Wally Backman to use a pitcher, D.J. Mitchell, to play right field for the final six innings of Saturday's game at Tacoma.
Baxter is hitting .217 with two homers and three RBIs and has a .299 on-base percentage in 67 plate appearances since a demotion to Las Vegas.
