Burke to rejoin Mets in vacated Lyon spot
By Adam Rubin
NEW YORK -- Sidearmer Greg Burke is due to rejoin the Mets on Friday in Milwaukee in the spot vacated when Brandon Lyon was designated for assignment.
Burke is eligible to return for the series opener against the Brewers because he has completed spending 10 days in the minors.
He becomes the 11th active player on the Mets' 25-man roster to also have played for Triple-A Las Vegas this season.
Burke made four scoreless relief appearances with the 51s after a demotion that coincided with Zack Wheeler joining the Mets in Chicago.
The Mets currently are playing with four bench players and eight relievers, so it would seem likely at some point on the road trip Ike Davis would get promoted and replace Gonzalez Germen.
