Source: Dodgers scouting Mets
By Adam Rubin
PITTSBURGH -- Less than three weeks before the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers have a scout watching the Mets, a source told ESPNNewYork.com.
That does not mean a trade will materialize before the July 31 deadline, but it is worth monitoring.
The Mets' interest in Andre Ethier is not completely clear -- and likely would be highly dependent upon how much money the Dodgers kicked in.
For the record: No one said the scout was looking at the Mets to identify return pieces in an Ethier trade.
Ethier is owed $15.5 million in 2014, $18 million in 2015, $16 million in 2016 and $18 million in 2017.
