Mets catch floundering Phillies for third
By Adam Rubin
No champagne was uncorked, but the Mets have caught the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East standings.
The Phillies (50-59) and Mets (49-58) are in a virtual tie for third place in the NL East, although Philadelphia has a slight edge in winning percentage by virtue of playing two more games (.459 to .458).
The Mets exclusively had been in fourth place since May 11.
Atlanta beat Philadelphia, 6-4, Saturday. The Phillies have lost 10 of their last 11.
Next up for the Mets: They're only three games behind the underachieving Washington Nationals (53-56).
