d'Arnaud on debut: 'indescribable'
By Adam Rubin
SAN DIEGO -- How did Travis d'Arnaud describe his major league debut?
"Indescribable, man," the rookie catcher said after going 0-for-2 with two walks in an 8-2 loss to the San Diego Padres on Saturday night. "It was one of those feelings everyone dreams they can have. I can't even describe it, but unfortunately we got the loss. We've got to try to come out tomorrow and win the series."
As for his initial emotions, d'Arnaud added: "Everything. Nervousness. A rush of emotions. Excitement. It's all just formed into one. It's just an unbelievable feeling that I hope everyone can feel one day."
Said Terry Collins: "You could see he was a little nervous. I thought he was fine. At the plate he looked all right. He hasn't caught a couple of these guys in a while, but I thought he did fine."
