Cashman responds to Grandy quip

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- How did Yankees GM Brian Cashman respond to Curtis Granderson's quip about the superiority of Mets fans? With kindness.

“Well, I understand why he would say that," Cashman said. "Listen, the great thing about this city is there’s room for both. The Mets got a good player. They really did. I really wish they would have been able to see him this past year, and put up more numbers. He just had freak injuries. But we appreciate the time we had with him. And he’ll help the Mets."

Granderson had said during his Tuesday introductory press conference: "A lot of the people I've met in New York have always said true New Yorkers are Mets fans. So I'm excited to get a chance to see them all out there."
